Jörg Immendorff was born in Bleckede in 1945 and studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Joseph Beuys, among others. His figurative oeuvre is characterized by an often metaphorically symbolic language, with which he dealt with topics from society, politics and culture. His existence as an artist is also reflected in his works, also in a self-ironic way. He is one of the best-known German artists of our time. In 2006 he was awarded the Goslarer Kaiserring. Immendorff died in Düsseldorf in 2007.
