Lewis Wickes Hine studied sociology and then worked as a teacher. He began to work in photography, first photographing arriving immigrants, from 1908 he documented child labor in America on behalf of the National Child Labor Committee, and in 1932 he published his illustrated book “Man At Work”, which shows the construction of the Empire State Building. Lewis W. Hine is regarded as one of the most important fathers of documentary photography.
