The seventh of several designs for telephone cards that Martin Kippenberger created in 1992 for the art edition of the FEZ (Fernmeldetechnisches Zentralamt, today Telekom).

Born in Dortmund in 1953, Martin Kippenberger studied from 1972 to 1976 at the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg with Claus Böhmler, Rudolf Hausner and Franz Erhard Walther. In 1977 he met Werner Büttner and the brothers Albert and Markus Oehlen, with whom he realised book and exhibition projects. In addition to numerous solo exhibitions, Kippenberger was represented at the Dokumenta exhibitions IX and X in 1992 and 1997 and was honored posthumously after his death in 1997 with an exhibition at the Venice Biennale. Martin Kippenberger’s extensive, cross-media and cross-genre work includes paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography, installations, multiples, posters, artist’s books, writings, and performative, curatorial, and linguistic forms of expression.
